Why doors matter more

Pressure, not wind, is what destroys a house

When a large opening fails during a storm, wind enters and pressurizes the interior while the outside pressure drops. The roof is then pushed from below and pulled from above at the same time. That is why a compromised sliding door so often precedes catastrophic damage — and why door protection is not the place to save money.

Common questions

Can I keep my existing frame?

Rarely, and we do not recommend it. The rating belongs to the full assembly — glass, frame, hardware and anchoring together. Reusing an old frame voids the NOA and will not pass inspection.

Do sliding doors still slide easily?

Yes. Impact panels are heavier, so the system uses reinforced tracks and better rollers. A properly installed unit moves with one hand.

Can I match my new doors to my windows?

Yes — frame color, glass tint and hardware finish can be specified as a set so the whole elevation reads as one design rather than a series of replacements.
